Founded in 1972 by Mike Horler after purchasing a shire mare called Princess .From then Radford Shires started to grow , Firstly venturing into the world of heavy horse turnouts after gaining sponsorship from Gaymers Cider in 1980 . 7 years later Mike handed over the reins to his son Colin who took over the running and from this Radford Heavy Horse display team was formed. The display team appeared around the country with many different displays .In 1991 Colin achieved the world record for the most shire horses driven by one man when he drove a team of 20 shires at Bath and west showground over a distance of 1 mile. After many successfull years showing turnouts Colin and his wife Tracy have gone into breeding and showing in hand shires.
Here at Radford Shires we have 4 senior broodmares and 3 up and coming young fillies .All the mares and fillies get a taste of the showing world attending many shows around the country to gain showgound and travelling experience
